Project Description

The treatment of pressure ulcers (PU) costs between CHF 60,000-90,000 (per incidence), with an average of 1 PU event/year/patient in para- and tetraplegics. In the ParaTex project we aimed at developing textile sensors for monitoring pressure, oxygenation, and perfusion non-invasively to avoid the development of PUs. First clinical tests will be performed with paraplegics at the end of 2015/beginning of 2016.
