CMOSAIC					Sun Labs at Oracle has Awarded Prof. David Atienza and his research team at ESL an "Outstanding External Research Award" in Nov. 2011, for contributions to the area of "Global Thermal and Energy-Aware Feedback-Control Algorithms for Enterprise Computer Servers"		Best Paper Award for the paper "Modeling and Dynamic Management of 3D Multicore Systems with Liquid Cooling" (A. K. Coskun, J. L. Ayala, D. Atienza, T. Simunic,) at the 17th Annual IFIP/IEEE Int. Conference on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI-SoC), Florianopolis, Brazil, Oct. 2009. Prof. John Thome was awarded the 2010 ASME Heat Transfer Memorial Award at the 14th International Heat Transfer Conference held in Washington DC this August in part for his extensive research on microscale flow boiling.

MIXSEL					Prof. Keller received the EPS Senior Prize for Applied Aspects of Quantum Electronics and Optics (2011): "for seminal contributions to ultrafast solid-state lasers, telecommunications, metrology and attosecond science".

Christoph Gerber received the prestigious Bill Whelan Life time achievement award from Nature Publishing Group, Nature Biotechnology, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Medicine on February 26th, during the Miami Winter Symposium 2012 - a "Nature" Conference. Previously 3 Nobel laureates are among the recipients of this prestigious award. Science Prize of the State of Basel 2011 to Prof. Dr. Christoph Gerber of the Swiss Nanoscience Institute and the Dept. of Physics at the University of Basel for his extraordinary and world-wide recognized pioneering work in the field of nanotechnology, in particular for the development of highly sensitive sensors in biology, chemistry and medicine.
